Corinne’s beautiful mama Jean
Diane, Doug, Denise and Debra’s beautiful Mama June Schmidt. My beautiful mother-in-law!
This blog is dedicated to Corinne Kelleher’s mama beautiful Jean. Somehow I ended up with her magical blue coat and wear it proudly, always send her love! <3!
AND to my beautiful mother-in-law June whom we miss every single day. She knows I’m doing my best so that my girls, who never met their grandmother connect to the love she gave all of us. 🙂
Mother’s Day, one of my ABSOLUTELY FAVORITE holidays, is right around the corner! It’s filled with the delight of getting (and the delight of watching our kids give us) handmade Mother’s Day presents, cards and letters. Over the years, even the best de-clutterer moms are unable to throw out the precious letters and cards from her beloved children. The love in them is both timeless and priceless.
When I lived in magical San Francisco I worked with one of the best public relations people in the world, Stuart McFaul. It is rare to find someone who is good in the PR field, but who also has a heart as beautiful as his. It was obvious that he had a fantastical mama! 😉 This past week, fifteen years later and from six thousand miles away, I got a surprise call from Stuart letting me know about a project he really cared about. I instantly knew I had to share his mother’s act of un-dying gift of love with you, because it’s absolutely perfect for Mothers’ day!
2006 Christmas Cruise with the Family , Stuart and his mom
Stuart told me that his magnificent mother June, had recently died. He and his sister spent the last few, precious days with their beloved mama. Her end was something that he calls absolutely beautiful because it was a celebration of her life and gave them a chance to peacefully accompany her out of this lifetime. After her death, they were surprised to find a letter she had written to them days before her death. The magnificent letter begins like this,
“Dear Mary Anne and Stuart,
As your mother, I wanted to leave you this message. I love both of you and have always loved you. I have tried to show you this love by words and actions, but I’m afraid many times I’ve fallen short. I’ve tried to give you my time, fun and laughter. I’ve tried to give you a safe and protective home (sometimes overly so, I’m afraid… (to read the entire letter check out the link at the end of this blog.)

WHAT STUART WROTE TO ME AFTER OUR CALL WHEN I ASKED HIM FOR MORE DETAILS…
”After my mom passed… then her funeral passed… I was still left with the feeling that things were incomplete. Had I honored her, honored her memory properly? Then I just flashed on it: the letter she left was a legacy – not just for us – but for others as well. So I spoke with my sister and we agreed that I would build MyMomento.org as a way to “play it forward” for my mom. Now, she can live on in the way her words can inspire others, just as they have inspired us. Here’s the press release I plan to release next week. XO – AND THANK YOU!
Inspired By A Mother’s Final Words, MyMomento.org Allows You to Share Your Own Mother’s Lasting Legacy
APRIL 29, 2013 — SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Launching today in time for Mother’s Day, MyMomento.org, a site inspired by a loving letter a mother left for her children, allows you to share the special “momento” left to you by your mother. Riffing on the word “memento,” a moment is a special memory, lesson or legacy that you inspires your life.
In the case of the site founders Stuart McFaul and Mary Anne McFaul Lothrop, it was a letter they found two days after their mother June died at age 93. The letter, which June had written just a few weeks before she died, was a deeply-felt message of humble and abiding love of a mother for her two adopted children. You can read the letter here.
“We had no idea she had written this, but – as our final legacy – it’s the single best gift we have ever received,” said Stuart. “It’s an inspiring memento that moves us to be better, more loving people as we go through our own lives.”
In honor of June and other loving mothers, Stuart and Mary Anne created MyMomento.org as a place where others can share the legacies left by their mothers.
“Our mother left us a gift that we can never equal,” said Mary Anne. “MyMomento.org is just a way we can ‘play forward’ our mother’s love.”
To learn the complete story and to share your own “momento,” please visit www.MyMomento.org or on Facebook athttps://www.facebook.com/MyMomento.org.
June’s letter is a gift not only to her children, but also to the rest of the world. Her act of love, thanks to her beautiful children is reverberating out into the world, increasing the amount of love in the world… and after all, isn’t that what Mother’s day celebrates?
CALL TO ACTION…
I invite you add to the love cycle that June started and that Stuart and Mary Anne have continued by forming www.mymomento.org! Share this blog with friends and let’s see how many likes on FACEBOOK and content we can get! This is a great way to honor our mothers!
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great big hugs,
PS As promised here is the rest of the letter from above. June’s letter to her “babies” http://www.mymomento.org/letter/

WHAT IS BUTTERFLYMOMS?
ButterflyMoms is a community of people who realize they are souls first and human being second. They want to explore more about themselves, to find out what makes them happy and how they can lead a life of purpose. It is simply about FEEDING YOUR SOUL. Although it has the name “MOMS” in the title it is more about being nurturing to your own transformation, as the butterfly is to its own metamorphosis. This community is led by Maria Salomão-Schmidt whose transformation was ignited by the birth and death of her BELOVED thirteen month old daughter Sophia (Sophalicious), the original butterfly.
*Every Friday Morning, as a way of honoring her daughter Sophia’s soul, Maria writes the weekly BUTTERFLYMOMS BLOG. Hundreds of people read it every week to feed their souls. Maria started writing the blog in May 2009 and has written EVERY Friday since. Maria is a Reiki master and every time you read it you are showered with healing love. Tell your friends… http://butterflymoms.wordpress.com and spread the love!!! FEED YOUR SOUL!!!!!
